Glebe Rangers (H)

1st Team
Wed 17th Aug - 8:00pm
Wakehurst welcomed Jason Wilmont’s Glebe Rangers to Mill Meadow last night with both teams coming in following solid 3-0 opening match victories.
The hosts took a longer time to settle than their Ballymoney counterparts and the first half saw Glebe the more likely of the two to get their noses in front but the sides went in to the half time interval goalless.
The game sprang in to life in the second half and it was Wakehurst who took the lead just before the hour when Zach Barr send the ball towards goal following a scramble and Andy Laughlin forced the ball over the line through the legs of Glebe ‘keeper Chris Fullerton.
Glebe levelled 11 minutes later when a corner was played short to Chad Dobbin and the defender took a touch before rifling the ball in to the top corner of Andy Findlay’s net from 25 yards to make it one apiece.
Wakehurst regained the advantage however on 78 minutes when an inspired substitution saw Aaran Weir take the place of Ryan Sands and Weir found the far corner of Fullerton’s goal on with a half volley on his first touch.
Glebe rallied once more and equalised again four minutes later when a free kick from Dobbin was headed in at the back post by the experienced Sheppard to complete the scoring before Wakehurst’s Conor Ross was harshly sent off for a challenge that looked to most like a yellow card at best.
