The firsts hosted bottom of the league Desertmartin at Mill Meadow and ran out convincing winners following a terrific first half which found them five goals to the good at the interval.

Corey Price, David Johnston and Stevie Mellon returned after missing the Newtowne game while new signings David McLaughlin and Jonny Dalls went straight in to the starting line up with fellow new boy Stephen Cochrane on the bench.

Things started well as Zach Barr put through strike partner Stewart Nixon to open the scoring after just three minutes and the lead was doubled on 18 minutes when roles reversed and Nixon was the provider as Barr made it 2-0.

Number three came on 23 minutes through debutant Jonny Dallas who side footed home after Nixon cleverly dummied a Corey Price delivery from the left before Niall Swann’s marauding run from centre half was rewarded when he finished at the back post from a Dallas cross to make it 4-0.

Nixon added a fifth before the break to cap a brilliant opening 45 minutes from ‘Hurst.

Half Time: Wakehurst 5-0 Desertmartin

The second half was much of the same in terms of chances created but the Desertmartin ‘keeper was in fine form as he kept out numerous efforts from Laughlin, Nixon and Barr before Dallas capped a memorable debut as he lobbed home from the edge of the box for his second and Wakehurst’s sixth.

Next up is a visit of Brantwood to Mill Meadow.
