Wakehurst started this game at a good pace and on the third minute, Zach Barr was unlucky to see his well struck shot saved by the visiting goalkeeper.

The hosts opened the scoring on the 8th minute as they broke from defending a Brantwood corner and Stewart Nixon played a ball into the path of Jonny Dallas who dribbled the ball fully 30 yards before slotting it past the keeper.

Brantwood started to take the game to 'Hurst and on the 23rd minute, Findlay in goals pulled off a world class save to keep the scores level but the visitors turned the game on its head before the interval as goals from Tweedie and McFadden on the 28th and 37th minutes left the Belfast with their noses in front going into the half time break.

Half Time: Wakehurst 1-2 Brantwood

Wakehurst came out the second half without centre back Swann following a first half clash of heads and was replaced by the returning Andy Millar.

After a change of shape, 'Hurst began to play their way into it with their usual passing game coming into play and it paid off on the 67th minute after good work by Zach Barr and Nixon allowed the latter to cross to the back post where Dallas hammered home to level the game at 2-2.

It was all Wakehurst now as they put Brantwood under the cosh and got their reward ten minutes from time when Barr unleashed a shot which the Brants goalkeeper could only parry and centre midfield enforcer  Andy Laughlin was on hand to hammer home the winner.

'Hurst lost new signing David McLaughlin to a knee injury and we won’t know the extent of it till he sees club physio Cameron Steele.

Special mention to young Tom Campbell who made his first team debut at 16 years old - Tom is another product of the Northend Utd club who continue to supply us with some of the best young players.

This incoming week we welcome back Conor Gregg, Corey Price, Conor Ross and David Johnston to strengthen an already strong panel and face Chimney Corner at Mill Meadow on the 17th September at 2pm.
